A new £12m Resource Centre in Cambuslang
West Asset Resource Centre
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) required a new facility to support the servicing of vehicles adjacent to their headquarters and training facilities in Cambuslang.
This is a major new development to enhance the working conditions for our staff working across different areas of the Service. The building includes a state of art workshop for our mechanics who work tirelessly to keep fire appliances maintained to protect communities across Scotland.

Our approach
The 24-hour, 4,300 square foot centre contains relevant facilities for servicing SFRS’ fleet of regular and emergency vehicles, specialist equipment and appliances. The single storey workshop facility, which is up to 10 metres high in places, includes 16 service bays with testing areas and associated office space. The two-storey section of the building accommodates storage, service delivery offices, staff welfare space and accommodation with an abundance of natural light.
The project required close collaboration with the contractor to address various construction challenges, ensuring the delivery of a modern, purpose-built facility that meets the operational needs of SFRS.
The centre now serves as a key resource for SFRS, supporting 65 permanent staff and enhancing the efficiency of vehicle and equipment maintenance across Scotland. The building also boasts energy-efficient design features, reflecting SFRS's commitment to sustainability.
